Based in London, Mike has a strong background in the management and servicing of customers in the insurance industry. He began his working life with London brokers and the Onassis Shipping Group before moving to Wm. Elmslie & Son where he founded Elmslie Consulting Services which later became INDECS, a claims and risk management consultancy which was acquired by CTC plc in 1998. He is currently an Executive Director of CTC plc. Mike has written extensively on the subject of claims and risk management and is heavily involved in client-oriented work for CTC.

Based in our Dallas office, Gabriel Lugo leads Taylor Risk Consulting in the Americas serving the clients of our risk management practice. Gabriel is a qualified lawyer, certified public accountant, and licensed risk manager; he has worked as a risk manager for both oil major Elf, now Total (in Houston and Paris) and Chiquita Brands International (in Cincinnati), a leading international marketer and distributor of fresh and processed foods. Gabriel has significant international risk management experience and is on the Board of Directors for the Society of Risk Management Consultants, the organization that sets the standards for the profession. He also holds an Associate in Risk Management and is a Six Sigma Green Belt.

Based in our Dallas office, Chris has 10 years of commercial, personal and catastrophe insurance experience. He reinforces our risk management services team with his expertise in property, marine and liability insurance issues and is actively involved in providing advisory services for many of our clients. Most recently, Chris has worked with a major property and casualty underwriter managing asbestos, silica, lead and other mass toxic-tort litigation for numerous different insureds in various jurisdictions. He has experience with current trends in toxic mold exposure issues, is a licensed risk manager and holds Associate in Risk Management and Associate in Claims designations.

Based in our Dallas office, Javier is responsible for providing risk and insurance advisory services to existing and prospective clients and assist in all aspects of client relations, including risk identification and assessment, advising on insurance and alternative risk transfer products, insurance program design and structure, captive feasibility studies, cost of risk analysis, risk mapping exercise, contractual review, insurance due diligence, benchmarking studies, as well as advising on insurance issues in general. Javier is fluent in Spanish and is a frequent lecturer on Enterprise Risk Management, the COSO framework, and Basel II and has significant international experience particularly in Latin America. He has prior experience as a Property and Casualty Loss Adjuster, Risk Surveyor and Forensic Engineer. Javier holds an ARM, and is a member of Engineers Association of Venezuela (CIV), Latin American Risk and Insurance Management Association (ALARYS), and Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS).

Based in London Mike joined CTC in 1997 following 12 years working at Lloyd's and the former Institute of London Underwriters in the London insurance market specializing in marine property and liability claims. Mike handles a wide range of assignments for clients in London and overseas. Mike is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurance Practitioner, a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and the Institute of Directors and sits on the Insurance Institute of London's Marine Committee.

Based in our Bermuda office, Michael manages our captive clients domiciled in Bermuda. Michael brings the experience and local knowledge required if our clients choose to incorporate and manage a captive in Bermuda. He oversees the management of a portfolio of captives with parent companies from Australia, Hong Kong, Norway, and the United States. Michael is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and graduated from the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada) with his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1997. Prior to joining Charles Taylor, Michael worked for Nilsson Bros. Inc. Corporate Office, in Edmonton, managing the corporate accounting for several subsidiary companies. He also has valuable public accounting experience having worked in the audit and small business departments for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Edmonton, Canada.

Based in London, Doug graduated with an honours degree in Chemical Engineering and Management Economics. He spent the first part of his career working in the oil and petrochemical industries. Doug joined the insurance world in 1986 as a risk engineer with AIG and spent five years there before transferring to broking with Johnson & Higgins, now Marsh, the world's biggest insurance broker. His assignments have been spread over 50 countries have been largely in the oil and petrochemical industries (both on and offshore) but have included other high hazard activities. Whilst risk assessment continues to take up much of his time, he is increasingly involved in the technical aspects of complex claims. Doug has lectured widely on risk management activities and been the author and co-author of numerous technical papers and is currently working on a new edition of a guide to safe design and operation in the process industries.

Based in the Isle of Man, Peter began his career in insurance with Bowring, now Marsh. After several years in general broking, he moved into captive management in 1987 and has specialised in this field since. In recent years Peter has had a strong emphasis in shipping, and established the first captive from the Former Soviet Union, for a Russian shipping company, in 1992. Peter has been been a consultant to, and a director of of Charles Taylor & Co (Isle of Man) Ltd, the Group's Isle of Man management operation, since June 2000.

Based in London, Martin has a strong underwriting and risk management background. A Classics graduate from Trinity College, Cambridge he has held a variety of underwriting and management positions with Municipal Mutual, Zurich Municipal and Munich-American Risk Partners where, latterly, he was Vice President and General Manager of the London division of American Re. Martin joined CTC in October 2003 to augment the non-Marine Mutual Development Unit. He has been at the forefront of developing integrated risk management programmes for the public sector outside of the United States and in designing risk financing solutions aimed at maximising the financial efficiencies of risk retention and risk financing strategies. Martin has written and spoken extensively on public sector risk management issues both in the UK and abroad and co-authored the book 'Public Sector Risk Management' which is a standard text for the Institute of Risk Management syllabus. In June 2004 Martin was made a life member of the Association of Local Authority Risk Managers in recognition of his services to the development and promotion of risk management in the public sector.

Based in the UK, Richard's background is in Engineering and he has spent the last 20 years advising insurers, reinsurers, brokers, companies and public bodies on the technical aspects of risk. After graduating from the City University in London in civil engineering he spent several years working as a consulting engineer in the UK and the Far East including living for three years in Singapore. In 1988 he became a founder director of Resolve International loss adjusters and risk consultants which was bought by Charles Taylor in 2001. He has qualifications in civil, water, environmental, energy and fire engineering, and is a chartered arbitrator. During his career he has undertaken numerous risk surveys and risk studies in countries across the world with particular emphasis on property and natural perils. He is the author of a large number of technical articles, papers and publications and is a regular contributor to conferences and seminars.

Based in Singapore and Bombay, Alex Pinto is a Director of Charles Taylor Consulting’s Marine Risk & Consultancy Division with responsibility for the Asia Pacific region. After gaining wide experience working with a ship broking firm and in various departments of Mackinnon Mackenzie, a subsidiary of P&O, he joined Richards Hogg Lindley in 1986. During his career with the RHL/CTC Group, he has been posted in various offices and managed various offices for the Group, including the UK, Middle East, Australia, India and Singapore. During the last 20 years, he has specialised in the adjusting of hull, cargo, fraud, energy and liabilities claims, including risk management, loss minimisation, mitigation, casualty management and litigation/mediation issues – acting on behalf of Assureds, Captives and Insurers. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute London, a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers, London.

Based in our London office, Thomas has experience in claims and worked in the Insurance industry in both France and England. He joined Charles Taylor non marine in 2006 and his international profile has taken him around the world to work on different claims.

Thomas is half French – half Italian, is fluent in Spanish and has notions of Portuguese. He lived and worked in France, Italy, U.S.A. and England. He has qualified from the ESG (Ecole Supérieure de Gestion) in Paris has “International business developer” and his studying towards the CII qualifications.

Based in our Miami office, Ronn has a B. S. in Engineering from St. Louis University and over 30 years experience in aviation. He joined CTC after working for more than 12 years as a Senior Manager of several Engineering disciplines at Continental Airlines. His experience includes, airline Propulsion (turbine) Engineer (TWA), Design Liaison Engineer (E-Systems), Aviation Insurance Surveyor and Aviation Manufacturing Engineer (hangar, shops & ramp facilities). Ronn also provides aircraft and engine valuations/appraisals, aircraft/engine damage assessments and expert witness services. He is a FAA licensed Airframe & Powerplant technician.

Based in our Dallas office, Angie graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. At Taylor Risk Consulting, Angie provides office support and assists in multiple ongoing projects. She brings with her several years of experience in management and administration. Angie is a licensed all lines claims adjuster and she is currently working towards her Associate in Risk Management.

Deanna is a licensed all lines claims adjuster and she is currently working towards her Associate in Risk Management. Deanna was an Intern for several years with Taylor Risk Consulting, prior to becoming a consultant. Deanna provides assistance in all aspects of client relations and claims as well as working on multiple ongoing projects.
